Personal
Support Services assists significantly disadvantaged individuals,
families and communities to develop their self-reliance and make
choices through:
- Participation in economic and social activities
- Prevention and early intervention initiatives; and,
- Access to case management and referral support
Personal Support Services maximises the engagement of individuals
and their families in the community through:
- Encouraging increased participation by enabling access and
promoting opportunities
- Fostering a culture of self-reliance in the community and
planning for the future; and,
- Developing partnerships with key stakeholders (other departments,
business and community organisations and service providers)
to improve efficiency and effectiveness of service
Services
Personal
Support Programme (PSP)
PSP is an initiative of the Commonwealth Department of Employment
and Workplace Relations, which is part of the Australians Working
Together Initiative. The programme is designed to assist
participants with multiple non-vocational barriers to achieve economic
and/or social outcomes.
Achieving employment is a priority for most people and is a highly
desirable outcome for all PSP participants. For some participants,
gaining employment may be a very long term goal. Therefore,
PSP recognises that a social outcome may represent a subatantial
step forward. .
Community Solutions Inc. is a PSP provider for over 200 clients
on the Sunshine Coast and in the Fraser Coast, Wide Bay Region.
Youth
Support Coordinator Initiative (YSC)
The Youth
Support Coordinator program is designed to support 'at risk' young
people to remain connected with learning or training and to access
the supports they need to remain out of statutory, crisis and intensive
service systems.
The YSC program is designed to enhance the support for young people
and their families who face social and/or emotional barriers to
remaining engaged in education and their community.
Currently this service operates within the Calounda/Kawana, Beerwah,
Chancellor Park, Bribie Island, Woodford, Kilcoy and Bundaberg areas.
Job Placement, Employment and Training (JPET)
Job Placement,
Employment and Training (JPET) an initiative of the Commonwealth
Department of Employment and Workplace Relations aimed at assisting
disadvantaged young people aged 15-21 years, particularly those
who are homelesss or at risk of homelessness, to overcome personal
and social barriers to participating in their community.
The focus
of JPET is to help young people stabilise their situation and then
address their personal and social non-vocational barriers so they
can re-engage with education or make the transition to employment
assistance programs such as Job Network wherever possible.
Community Solutions
Inc. currently delivers JPET services to young people who live in
the Bundaberg, Maryborough and Hervey Bay areas.
Youth Pathways
Program


Overview
Youth
Pathways is an Australian Government Initiative aimed at assisting
the most at-risk young people to make a successful transition through
to the completion of Year 12 (or its equivalent) and ultimately,
to further education, training or employment and active participation
in the community. Nationally, the programme will assist over 17,000
young people aged 13 to 19 years old each year by providing intensive
individualised assistance and support.
Eligibility
- Aged between 13-19 years of age (also Australian Citizen or
Permanent Resident)
- AT RISK of leaving school before completing Year 12 and
- AT RISK of not making a successful transition through school
and from school to further education, training or employment
OR
- Have left school in the preceding 12 months without completing
year 12 and
- AT RISK of not making a successful transition to further education,
training or employment
Youth
Pathways is a national initiative and Community Solutions Inc. operates
within the Hervey Bay, Bundaberg, Gympie and Maryborough areas within
Queensland to provide this service.
